In the Al-Koot district — the oldest quarter of historic Hofuf, close to Qasr Ibrahim — stands Al-Jabri Mosque, one of Al-Ahsa's oldest and most celebrated mosques. It was built by Saif bin Zamil Al-Jabri in the era of the Jabrid state, around 850 AH / 1446 CE, and endowed with farms and palm groves, serving as a beacon of teaching and scholarship alongside worship. Raised in mud and limestone, it is distinguished by its intersecting vaults, multiple arcades and varied domes, with a cylindrical minaret, and holds around 1,600 worshippers. Restored repeatedly over the centuries — most recently with original materials in 1437 AH / 2016 CE under the historic mosques care programme — it remains a living, working mosque to this day.
