Palm Village is a seasonal destination organised by the Al-Ahsa Development Authority and Al-Ahsa Municipality amid the oasis palms, with date shops, restaurants, cafés, craft pavilions and a Palm Museum. Its next edition is confirmed for November 2026; exact dates and duration are not announced.
Palm Village is a seasonal destination organised by the Al-Ahsa Development Authority and Al-Ahsa Municipality amid the palm groves of the Al-Ahsa Oasis. It celebrates the palm and everything that grows from it: the date and its many products, the farmers who tend it, and the crafts woven from its fronds, in one place where shopping, tasting and heritage sit side by side. A visit works as a tour of several stops, so each visitor can pick what suits their interests and their time.
The project was inaugurated in December 2024 by HRH Prince Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz, Emir of the Eastern Province, as a lasting venue for palm and date products and the events around them. HH Prince Saud bin Talal bin Badr, Governor of Al-Ahsa, opened it on the evening of Tuesday 22 April 2025 on a site of more than 50,000 square metres. That first season coincided with the Year of Handicrafts 2025 and included an area for craftsmen and workshops; about 5,000 visitors a day were expected, an estimate announced at the opening rather than a recorded attendance figure.
The second edition opened on 27 January 2026 under the patronage of the Emir of the Eastern Province, opened by HRH Prince Saud bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Emir of the Eastern Province, in the presence of the Governor of Al-Ahsa, and ran for two months. It covered 90,000 square metres, with 21 shops for dates and date products, 19 restaurants and cafés, 5 shops for Hasawi rural products and 7 pavilions for crafts made from the palm. Its programme included a Palm Museum on palm and date varieties and their history, an interactive theatre, folk arts, culture houses for arts, literature, crafts and folk heritage, and activities for children. These figures belong to the second edition; facilities may change from one edition to the next.
The next edition is confirmed for November 2026. The exact opening date, the length of the season, opening hours and fees have not been announced, so check the organisers’ announcements before you go. The village is held on a fixed site in the Muhairis district of Al-Mubarraz; the map link is in the visit card. Plan two to three hours for a relaxed visit, and ask at the date shops about variety, origin and storage before you buy.
Traders, farmers, craftspeople and home-based producers who want to take part can register for a booth in the village through the booth registration page linked on this page.
