Al-Thulaim Mountain

At Al-Ahsa's northern gateway, about a kilometre west of the city of Al-Oyoun, rises Al-Thulaim Mountain — the first landmark to greet travellers arriving at the oasis from the north. It is a solitary rocky formation, one of the sedimentary desert hills scattered around the oasis's fringes. Its position beside Al-Oyoun and the northern oasis road makes it an easy destination for desert outings and walking, and community proposals have been floated to develop it as a northern tourist gateway for Al-Ahsa — ideas that remain at the proposal stage.
