Abu Husais Mountain

A mountain of cool grottoes and rock formations north of Al-Tuwaither, amid the eastern villages.

In the Al-Qou' quarter north of Al-Tuwaither village, amid the belt of Al-Ahsa's eastern villages some twenty kilometres east of Hofuf, rises Abu Husais Mountain, bordered on the west by the palm groves of Al-Tuwaither and Al-Qarah. The mountain is famed for its narrow grottoes, from which cool draughts flow year-round — a trait of Al-Ahsa's sedimentary hills — and for wind-carved rock formations and slopes easy enough for casual climbing. In 2024, Al-Ahsa Municipality signed an investment contract to develop and operate the mountain as a tourist resort with eco-friendly rural lodges over an area of 100,000 square metres.
