A traditional breakfast spread of assorted dishes at Al Hawy

Al Hawy is a breakfast restaurant in Al-Khalidiyah, Hofuf, across from King Faisal University. It opened in 2018. The name comes from a local word: al-hawi is the courtyard, the open outdoor space of a house — the hawi of the home. In some places the word zawara is attached to the name as well, drawn from ziyara, a visit. Breakfast is how the restaurant presents itself before anything else: its accounts run under the name Futoor Al Hawy — breakfast at Al Hawy — rather than the more commonly used "Al Hawy Restaurant", and the first thing its links page points to is the breakfast menu. Its location in Al-Khalidiyah places it in the same neighbourhood as Khunaina and Greasy Fingers from this list, a residential and university neighbourhood rather than a heritage one — so a visit here is a visit for the breakfast itself, not a tour of old Hofuf.
