In the town of Al-Jafr, east of the oasis, sits the museum of Walid Al-Najim, one of the region's most notable private museums, its collection arranged over some 400 square metres in twenty-six themed corners. The museum is licensed by the Ministry of Culture, and its corners recreate whole scenes of old Hasawi life: a vintage grocery shop, a bridal chamber, a historic classroom, men's and women's majlis rooms, craftsmen's corners for blacksmithing, carpentry and jewellery-making, along with old Saudi coins and stamps, antique furniture, dress and early machines. Officials of the tourism and heritage authority have praised it as a private museum of notable heritage value.
